11.11.11 A Magical Day for Jennifer and Andre’s Wedding

11.11.11 was truly a Magical day for Jennifer and Andre as their wedding was filled with energy and happiness.

The Bridges Golf Club shined with elegance and details that reflected both of them and their guests, it was just a matter of putting the extra magical touch into it called “Music” to bring the rest of it to life, “And to Life It Was” as her guests danced even during dinner time, what a fun group and night.

Jennifer as most of her guests were from Ghana, her love for her family and friends is beyond imagination, everything done that evening from the decorations, dinner(family style), music, photobooth was to make sure their guests had a great time.

I was commissioned by Jennifer to create a series of Slideshows to play during their: First Dance, Mother/Daughter Dance, etc.. Her Mother/Daughter Dance Slideshow left if not all, most in tears, it was such an honor to be involved in that project.

“Back to the Music” When guests stop eating to get up and dance during dinner, you know you’re doing something right, needless to say that when the Dance Floor actually opened they did not stop for one minute, a mixture of popular Ghana Songs, R&B, Motown and Hip Hop kept the night going, never seen a crowd so involved into the cupid shuffle and it was actually the best I’ve seen.

Towards the end, Jennifer and Andre had one more surprise for their guests, a Spin A Wheel Carnival Game, yes you got it right, with gifts such as the opportunity to give a hug to the Bride & Groom, but also a Laptop, Ipods and and Ipad, now talk about surprises!

I was so fortunate and honored to work with Jennifer and Andre, also in the process meeting some of their family members.

Monica and Robert’s Wedding at the Garden Court Hotel, Palo Alto

An evening of activities, fun and dancing led Monica and Robert’s Wedding at the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto, it was a cozy, elegant yet fun filled event.

The grand entrance really set the tone of the evening, with the Bridal Party joining the Bride & Groom on the Dance Floor to “I Gotta A Feeling – Black Eyed Peas” then proceeded to do their First Dance, the fun continued with the Father/Daughter Surprise Dance a well choreographed set.

Formalities were quickly done before dancing started, as the bride had yet another fun surprise for the guests:

A song was posted on each table number, all Party Fun Songs! every time I played the song on their table number, that meant, the guests on that table had to be on the Dance Floor, along with the other guests, it was a unique way to keep everyone on the Dance Floor and worked perfectly. Mariko and Sandeep’s Wedding at the Doubletree Hotel Sacramento

It’s a great celebration when a couple gets married but even more when two different cultures come together and they all celebrate and dance all night.

Mariko and Sandeep had 2 ceremonies, first one was a Hindi Ceremony celebrating Sandeep’s Indian Culture and the second one was an American/Japanese Ceremony celebrating Mariko’s Culture, both were amazing to watch.

The main Idea was to entertain and make sure everyone got not only acquainted but also interacted with each other, Mariko wanted to give their centerpieces away, and what better way to do so than with “The Pass The Dollar Game” it’s guaranteed to make everyone laugh, scream and have a good time.

Fun Facts: Instead of doing the Garter Removal/Toss, the Groom Tossed a Wallet! with money… The Anniversary Dance was won by this amazing couple celebration their 51st Wedding Anniversary…. what an honor!

Obviously being a DJ I need to comment on the Dancing, everyone and I mean everyone in the room danced, weather it was to Elvis – Jail House Rock, Party Rock Anthem from LMFAO to the Fun and Active Bollywood and Bhangra Music…

Ruby and Eric’s Wedding, Sunol Valley Golf Club

Alice in Wonderland, the “Mad Tea Party” took place at this wedding, very unique theme, even more was their cake, made by Cake Studios in Menlo Park.

What a fun night, started the day with Mariachi’s, then a performance by the Groom’s Family, to everyone’s surprise the Bride & Groom skipped the traditional slow First Dance, but jumped right into the action with a fast traditional Tapatio Song.

From oldies, to Salsa and Cumbia, Spanish Rock and Hip Hop, the dance floor shook until midnight, with the Bride & Groom doing the “Crazy Hour” at at 11pm offering leis, hats and glow in the dark necklaces to the guests.

Ashley and Scott’s Wedding at Carneros Inn, Napa

A destination wedding at the Carneros Inn, located in Napa, the Bride & Groom (Ashley and Scott) including most of their guests came from out of state to have an elegant and cozy wedding in the wine country of Napa.

A delicate, modern style villa surrounded by cottages make their way to the hill where the reception room was located with beautiful views of the Napa Valley.

The ambiance was filled with Big Band/Rat Pack music during Cocktail and Dinner, followed by unforgettable speeches by the Best Man, Father of the Bride and the Groom.

Although the dancing portion of the evening was short, due to rain delays(it poured pretty much all day) it did not stop this party group from having a great time on the dance floor.

Brenda and Danny’s Wedding ABC Seafood Restaurant Milpitas

Tremendously happy couple, their goal was to make the evening all about the guests, from the food, favors, interactions, games, even the entertainment.

Brenda and Danny are both Vietnamese and so were most of their family and friends, through the planning process we came with several ideas but what I thought it was the coolest thing, was that they actually purchased high priced items and gave them aways for prizes in games or raffles, anywhere from Ipod, Camcoders, you name it…

The evening started with the traditional Lion Dance, well performed and completaly unexpected by the guests, which they had an awesome time.

Although I do a grand variety of Asian Weddings I’m familiar with Vietnamese Wedding traditions and part of is to have a family member MC some parts of the evening which we worked along great, we did the games and raffles together, including the Pass The Dollar Game, a favorite at Chinese and Vietnamese Weddings.

Dancing took off, from minute one, Brenda danced so much that at one point she had to remove her shoes, the highlight of the evening was at the end, their First Dance was supposed to be a coordinated dance mix of two songs, but due to their professions and lack of time they opted for one slow song.

However they requested “Because Of You – by Neyo”  for their Las Dance, now here comes the Surprise, since their mixed First Dance never happened, I Mixed in “You’re The One That I Want – From Grease” their eyes were glowing with happiness, and they showed their best moves… I never had a Bride so Happy, she came to running to the stage to give me a Big Hug!!! now talk about priceless moments.

  • First Dance: Endless Love – Diana Ross
  • Last Dance:  Because Of You

Alex and Katie’s Wedding 08/13/2011, Shannon Community Center, Dublin, California.

Country decor, an out of town Kind and Fun Bride, a Groom crazy for his Bride, a venue that was the perfect setting for a fairytale.

Katie and Alex are without a doubt the kindest people I’ve met in a long time, their devotion to each other, family and friends is beyond amazing. I was blessed to do their wedding on a sunny day at the Shannon Community Center in Dublin, California. It’s a hidden jewel in the Tri-Valley area, with bridges that lead to a Garden perfect for a fairytale wedding, and that’s what took place on August 13, 2011.

They had a traditional ceremony, that was filled with laughs, prayers, good wishes and a beautiful song by one of the Bride’s friend.

The Reception did not stay behind, with a country decor, great food, all coordinated by Linda Marshall from Currant Events, a very seasoned Wedding Coordinator which I had the pleasure to work with.

To be honest the wedding was the first day I met Katie, and really only got to say hello and congratulations as I was ready to introduce them, as both Katie and Alex currently live in Washington State, however all of our planning was done via email and phone, she was a blessing to work with.

Dancing was phenomenal and took off from the first 15 seconds of “September by Earth, Wind and Fire” in a matter of a minute the Dance Floor was filled with eager happy guests willing to dance the night away and so did the Bride and Groom.

At 9:30 we did the Bouquet Toss to “Oh Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison” and invited all the guests outdoors to send off the Bride & Groom in a cool custom Vintage 1949 ranch truck filled with haystacks for seating… It was unique and fun!
